Water: Friend and Potential Foe

Keeping Pesticides Out of Ground Water

Water Quality

Almond growers rely on good water quality to ensure both a healthy tree and a healthful crop. Poor water quality, be it too high salinity or too high bacteria counts, hurts almond growers. Protecting the quality of water used in the orchard or near orchards will also help protect the future of farming in California. Thus, whether it’s protecting consumers from potential bacterial contamination by implementing Good Agricultural Practices, or protecting surface and ground water from run-off or leaching by following Best Management Practices, each California almond grower shares the responsibility of assuring and maintaining water quality.
